Humidity: the enemy of your compressor

Why do compressed air systems need to use a dryer?

The answer is simple.

Humidity is always present in the ambient air. Inevitably, it is harmful to your compressed air system.

Installing an air dryer system for your air compressor will therefore counteract its unwanted effects and avoid troublesome problems with the performance of your compressed air system.

Without using an air dryer, here are some problems that humidity can cause:

- Cause rust and increased wear of moving parts in production equipment.

- Affect the color, adhesion and finish of the paint applied with compressed air.

- Cause malfunctions to the pneumatic controls due to rust, scale and blocked orifices. It can then generate costly stops, and thus endanger production where many operations depend on the proper functioning of the pneumatic controls.

- Cause freezing in the control lines in cold weather, which can cause the controls to malfunction.

- Cause corrosion of instruments operating with compressed air, giving false readings, interrupting or even stopping the factory processes.

Several factors are important to consider in choosing a dryer for your compression system such as the type, ambient temperature and exposure of the piping, system usage, etc.

Our experts can help you choose the right air dryer system for your compressed air system that will best suit your specific requirements. Contact us now.
